The Grabiarz School was constructed in 1999 and in 2012 Kideney Architects was selected to perform a detailed forensic analysis of the building’s failing systems. The most apparent failure presented itself within the roof system. This portion of the building envelope is penetrated with skylight and clerestory structures as well as variously proportioned parapet walls. The forensic study found failures within the roof, associated insulation, flashing, masonry cavity wall ties and reinforcement, skylights, and storefront window systems.

  • New skylight design and reconfiguration (improve watershed and drainage)

  • Replaced storefront window systems
  • Replaced mechanical louvers
  • Replaced deteriorating brick sills with precast
  • Replaced metal panel system
